Obon Holiday Week is starting again from the 10th to 15th of August.
Have you ever heard about Obon in Japan? I always explain this period as “Buddhist version Halloween” because it is said that our ancestors’ spirits come home during this week. Many of families gather to welcome them or visit their grave to let them know we are doing well and remember them. It is quite important family event for us and many companies close at least for a week.
Since this is traditional and religious event, many of younger generations don’t understand how important it is and just try to enjoy their long holidays as much as possible, for instance traveling overseas. I also used to be forced to join the event by my parents but now I know how important and precious opportunity it is to see my family and think about my grandfather (both of my grandmothers and the other grandfather are still well, how lucky I am!).
Thus, most of the manufactures will close from 10th to 15th so Globalkitchen Japan will also take holidays. This means that your order takes longer to be delivered than it normally does and your inquiry also will not get instant response. We apologize for any inconvenience.
We will resume shipping and get back to you on and after 16th. Thank you always for your patience and understanding!
