Use & Care of Iron Takoyaki Pan

Nambu Iron Takoyaki Pan is devised for making awesome Takoyaki. Takoyaki is a representative local food of Osaka Prefecture, it is common to hold Takoyaki party nationwide.

What makes Numb Iron Takoyaki pans distinctive is that it is engineered to conduct heat evenly. Because of this, it can cook each Takoyaki well.

Also, iron pans are less likely to cause Millard reaction and can make Takoyaki that brings out the best of each ingredient.

How to Wash

Nambu Iron Takoyaki Pan should be washed only with water and no detergent. This is to maintain oil layers accumulated on the surface. This is as important as oiling or seasoning of pans.

For persistent stains, scrub the pan with Japanese Tawashi (scourer) or Sasara (bamboo scrubbing brush) in running water. In even worse cases, pour water in the pan, heat it until boiling and leave for some time. The stop heating and let it cool down, and then scrub it with Tawashi or Sasara. The stains will be removed more easily.

Made of iron, it will get rusted if water is left on it. Although iron rust is harmless to human body, most people wouldn’t like it. It is recommended to heat the pan with nothing inside after washing it every time.

In case it gets heavily rusted, scrape it off with steel scourer and apply oil.

How to Store

Once you apply oil to the pan, put in in the box or cover it with old newspapers.

After washing the pan and evaporating water, let it cool down spontaneously. Be careful as it will be hot when heated.

Once the pan cools down, apply thin layer of oil (Not much). It is recommended to use oiling brush made exclusively for Takoyaki.
