    Use & Care

    • The wok is pre-seasoned and ready to use upon delivery. Since it’s made upon each order, it will take 5-10 weeks before the shipment. You don’t need to heat the wok to burn off the coating before first use, but wash it with detergent. Then, stir-frying vegetable scraps is recommended in order to make the wok ready.     Yamada Kogyosho, Y.K. was founded in Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan in 1957. Yamada is a family-owned craft factory run over three generations and they are the only manufacturer of hammered woks in Japan.

      I love these woks

      Bought one of these online from an Ebay vendor and fell in love. My next order was directly from GlobalkitchenJapan, which made the works and then sent them to me well packaged. I use one of my four works every day and can't imagine how I survived previously without them. Are they expensive? Yes. Are they worth every cent? ABSOLUTELY YES. High quality. Great craftsmanship. These are a must have for serious cooks.

      Hard to maintain for my case

      I diligently tried piling the wok and leaving it out on the counter. Not washing with harsh detergent, But it still became rusty. I do not know what to do now and if it is ok to cook in it. Please do advise on how I can try to “revive” this expensive wok.
